DPS Mathura emerge champion in USA Pears Presents Daredevils Schools Cup

·         Delhi Daredevils’ dashing ’keeper batsman Rishabh Pant and USA Pears’ Mr Keith Sunderlal Pant give away trophies


 


DPS Mathura emerged champion in the fifth edition of the USA Pears Presents Daredevils School Cup on Tuesday. DPS Mathura beat Modern School Barakhamba by 23 runs in a tightly contest title clash.


 In the final played at the Jamia Sports Complex, DPS Mathura won the toss and batted first. DPS Mathura posted 137 and then bowled well to restrict Modern School to 114.


The finale was a fitting climax to four weeks of high quality cricket action witnessed in the National Capital Region (NCR) amongst some of the top school cricketers. The high quality talent on display in the tournament caught a lot of attention.


 One of Delhi Daredevils’ key players, left-handed wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant and India representative USA Pears Mr Keith Sunderlal were chief guests at the final presentation ceremony.


 The fifth edition of the USA Pears Daredevils School Cup started on 23 November with a total of 40 schools playing in the tournament in 51 matches, in what is an invitational inter-school Twenty20 event.


 Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Keith Sunderlal, India representative of the USA Pears said:


“The aim of the initiative is to promote grassroots cricket and to identify promising cricketing talent from the NCR. We are glad that this tournament continues to contribute to the development of the sport in the country.”


 Key highlights of the tournament is that top 15 players will receive special coaching session from Delhi Daredevils coaching staff led by Rahul Dravid. The Tournament witnessed many soaring moments like the following


  • Highest Score by a team --- 331 in 20 overs by Bal Bhawan Int School Dwarka

  • Centuries in the tournament --- 8

  • Highest individual score --- 126 by Dhamandeep Singh of Air Force Bal Bharti Schoo

  • 5 wicket haul in the tournament ---

  • Half centuries in the tournament --- 24


The achievement of following players and team were awarded at the presentation ceremony


  • MOM for final match --- Yatharth Singh (DPS mathura road)

  • BEST Batsman --- Yatharth Singh (DPS mathura road)

  • BEST Bowler  ---- Ajay Gulia (DPS mathura road)

  • DAREDEVIL OF THE TOURNAMENT ---- Rishab Drall (Modern School)
