NEW DELHI, May 15: The 58-run partnership for the fifth wicket between Naman Ojha and Mahela Jayawardene helped consolidate Delhi Daredevils’ inning. iplt20.com caught up with Daredevils’ Naman Ojha. The wicket-keeper  Ojha talked about his team’s performance against the Kings XI Punjab in DLF Indian Premier League and also talked about their next match against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Excerpts from the interview:

On his team winning and their position in the points table:

We are now safe but we are not complacent. The next game is also important for us. Day after tomorrow, we play against RCB, which is a very good team. We will try to play well against that team [as well]. 

On the Ferozshah Kotla pitch: 

Wicket was pretty nice and the ball was coming on nicely to the bat. Our bowlers did a very good job to restrict them to 136 runs. 

On whether the loss of four early wickets put DD under pressure in their run-chase:

With three or four wickets down, and you coming in to bat, there is definitely a little pressure. But I thought that I will play my game and I will back myself [to do well] and I have done that. 

On striking good form and being amongst runs:

I am definitely feeling better [about my batting].

On the atmosphere in the dugout when the match was still poised evenly around the 17th over:

Mahela [Mahela Jayawardene] was still out there, so we thought he is a senior player and very experienced pro and we knew that he is going to bring us home. So we were sure about that. 

On Mahela Jayawardene’s innings:

He played wonderfully; he is a very experienced player. 

On the useful contributions by him and Irfan Pathan: 

It is a small contribution, but we are very happy that we have contributed to the team’s victory. 

On their next game against RCB:

Now, we will first enjoy this win and tomorrow and day-after we will sit and discuss [about the next match].
