NEW DELHI, May 4: This season Daredevils middle-order batsman Yogesh Nagar has been the unsung hero for his team. His small but important knocks like his inning of 23 runs while chasing the score of 157 against the Deccan Chargers or his quick fire knock of 27 that helped Daredevils reach a competitive score of 152, has been instrumental for his team. And with his helmet, gloves and pads off he is an electrifying fielder in the middle, taking some amazing catches and getting some unbelievable run outs is what the 22-year-old Delhi boy is good at.
Yogesh Nagar in an interview with mail-today talks about his contribution to the team and also talks about the importance of good fielding.
Excerpts from the interview:
On his small but important knocks against the Deccan Chargers and Rajasthan Royals:
It feels good that I stayed on till the last over (in those matches). They were small but important contributions and I am glad to have contributed to the team’s cause.
On his bowling:
I used to bowl regularly earlier, now I try to contribute with the bat and in the field. Every now and then I am asked to bowl a few overs and I do that.
On the importance of fielding:
Fielding is a very important aspect of T20. You have to contribute in the field as saving runs can be as crucial as scoring runs and picking wickets.
On playing along with some big players in the squad:
Playing with such big players is a privilege. You learn how to tackle a particular bowler or a situation.
