Q: Alec Stewart recently told BBC in an interview that he had no problems with your playing in IPL provided you went back with some knowledge to help the England squad. Why does it always come with such conditions? Is the IPL struggling to find acceptance back home?
KP: It is very much struggling to find acceptance back home. It is saddens me actually because I have had an amazing time in IPL. There is a lot of jealousy I think with it which is bad because I would love to see more English players playing here and a lot of them made their availability. They just did not get picked up. It would help the England team so much especially with an Indian tour at the end of the year, four Tests and seven ODIs. To have six or seven of the players of the England team playing in the IPL would have been so good for the England team at the end of the year. It saddens me with all the negative publicity IPL gets in England and I don’t know why and it’s not good.
