Whom do we play today
Head to Head
The Oomph factor
Delhi Daredevils are returning home after a mixed first leg in UAE and the team is on a high after comfortably beating defending champions Mumbai Indians in their last game.
The game against the Mumbai Indians showed that the process coach Gary Kirsten and skipper Kevin Pietersen had been trying to put in place ever since the team came together for the pre-season camp is beginning to show results.
Delhi Daredevils were exceptionally professional in their batting and bowling in their last game and with Pietersen returning to form after an injury set back, the 2012 table toppers are ready to challenge any opposition.
Rajasthan Royals, there opponents today, may have one victory more than the Delhi Daredevils from their first five games in UAE but the hosts are well aware that the Ferozshah Kotla has always been a happy hunting ground for them.
The Daredevils have registered their two biggest victories – by runs and by wickets – against this very opposition at this very ground. Though the two teams share the overall head-to-head record, the hosts have lost just one game at this ground against the Royals in their four meetings here and there is no reason why they cannot continue their domination at the Kotla.
Australian pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile has been ruled out of the competition due to injury but all other players are available.
Almost every batsman in the playing XI has been among the runs and that augurs well for the team. In the bowling department, the biggest plus for the Delhi Daredevils has been their ability to make early inroads.
Only scope of improvement is their bowling at the death, but the team has got some time to work out a few new plans and would be looking to implement them against the Royals.
