#DilliBoys Quinton speaks after his match winning knock against KXIP

After guiding Delhi Daredevils to their first win in IPL 2016, Quinton de Kock spoke about the ‘low total’ factor and how his side were confident chasing down the target. Having put into bat by Zaheer Khan, a mediocre batting display meant Kings XI Punjab only managed to reach 111 in their full quota of 20 overs. The target was chased down comfortably by DD, with de Kock getting a half-century and Sanju Samson scoring 33. After losing their first game, where they themselves were bundled out for 98, DD showed character in their game against Kings XI. They were well led by Amit Mishra with the ball, who took 4 wickets, before de Kock took over with his batting. Speaking to IPL after the game, de Kock said low targets can be tricky at times, but he was confident his side would chase it down. Whilst saying it was just a matter of when the game would be won, he spoke about the youngsters in the side. The top order of DD has a 23 year old de Kock, 21 year old Shreyas Iyer and a 21 year old Sanju Samson.

He was also asked about the spinners, for which he said he didn’t have any specific plan. He told he thought according to the type of ball, and trusted his abilities rather than thinking too much. He also said he did not given any advice or suggestion to fellow youngster Samson while they were at the crease.

Having run-out Murali Vijay which started the fall of KXIP’s innings, he felt satisfied to get one of the top 5 IPL batsman. He also praised Man of the Match Amit Mishra, who took four wickets, which led to the downfall of their opponents. Calling him by his renowned nickname ‘Mishi’, he said it was a joy to watch him bowl, and said the experience of playing alongside and against him worked in his favor while keeping.

He ended up by saying it was nice to get win in the first home game, and hoped this will be the momentum boost they need going further into the campaign to qualify for the playoff’s.
