Mar 4: Four young Titans from South Africa to train with Daredevils as part of exchange

NEW DELHI: Four players from the Eastern Titans franchise of South Africa will be the first group to benefit from the partnership between Eastern Titans and Delhi Daredevils, which was formally entered into in May 2009.  The players, whose team is stationed at the Centurion, Pretoria, are Thomas Kaber, Mangaliso Mosehle, Christiaan Schoeman, and Shaun von Berg.
Through this partnership and understanding, the two sides agreed to promote and support each other to establish a regular supply of young talent. This was to be the feeder link to the senior teams.  Among the many positives of the partnership, is an exchange programme, which will feature these young players and give them a chance to train in India.
The players’ leave for India on March 6, 2010 and will participate in four practice sessions with the Delhi Daredevils as well as attend three IPL matches during their stay.
Chris van Noordwyk, coach of the Nashua Titans said, “What a great opportunity for these young cricketers from our Franchise to have exposure in Indian conditions as well as being part of the whole IPL experience. They will have the chance to work with, arguably, some of the best coaches as well as integrate with the Delhi Daredevil players both on and off the field.  It is every cricketer’s dream to experience the Indian cricketing conditions as part of one’s development.  Each of these young talented players will be able to gain experience in all forms of the game with our spinners working alongside the best in the business; Mangaliso will have the opportunity to experience wicket keeping with the likes of Dinesh Karthik, in contrasting conditions, with Schoeman hoping to gain experience playing against arguably some of the world’s best bowlers.”
Elise Lombard CEO of the Titans said, “An integral part of the partnership with the Delhi Daredevils will help position the Titans as a global brand, not only in Delhi and India, but across the world.
“We are indeed pleased for the opportunity for some of our emerging players to be part of the Delhi Daredevils set up during the IPL tournament.  The experience and exposure they will gain from this venture will surely stand them in good stead in their cricket careers as they learn about the prevailing conditions in India.
We are confident that this will be the first of many ventures between the Titans and the Delhi Daredevils and believe that it will lead to emergence and nurturing of new talent on both sides.”
“The arrival of our young Titans to join the Daredevils for the IPL is indeed a landmark that will cement the relationship between two wonderfully talented teams. We look forward to having the Titans interact with our youngsters as also the experienced members to foster a partnership that will benefit both teams,” said Amrit Mathur, Chief Operating Officer of the Delhi Daredevils.
“We also look forward to having our youngsters visit South Africa in the near future to experience their conditions and learn more about international cricket.”
