Daredevil Dirk Nannes to play for Notts next year
New Delhi, Nov 29: Dirk Nannes, the new ball spearhead for Delhi Daredevils, who will be back for the 2010 IPL, has also signed up with Nottinghamshire next year's English Twenty20 competition.
The 33-year-old Nannes, who was an outstanding success for Delhi Daredevils in 2009 IPL in South Africa and again in Champions League, has been one of the big stars of the shortest format of the game.
He has played for Delhi Daredevils, Middlesex and the Victoria Bushrangers at domestic level besides earning an Australia cap and has also played for the Dutch national side in World Cup T20.
Nottinghamshire director of cricket Mick Newell said: "I regard Dirk as the most effective Twenty20 bowler in the world and he will be a great addition to our attack given the wealth of experience he possesses."
Nannes was the livewire for Delhi Daredevils in the IPL and he earlier helped Middlesex to the 2008 Twenty20 Cup trophy. He will also remembered for helping the Dutch overturn Paul Collingwood's side in the opening game of this summer ICC World Twenty20 in England.
"Dirk has got good pace, he can bowl left-arm around the wicket and he bowls a good yorker which will come into play at the end of the innings. His achievements in the IPL underline his pedigree and we're signing him at the peak of his powers," said Newell.
Nannes added: "I'm ecstatic to have the opportunity to come and play for Nottinghamshire next year and to have the familiar faces of past team mates Hussey and Pattinson lining up alongside me as well as respected former opposition.
