Tracking the Daredevils (November 9) - Bhatia shines for Delhi in Ranji

Rajat Bhatia scored a fine 78 and off-spinner Yogesh Nagar shone with the bat as Delhi opened their Ranji Trophy Super Legaue engagements against Baroda. Pradeep Sangwan had good all-round outing with 33 and three wickets in the match.

In Australia AB McDonald was in sizzling form for Victoria as he scored a 58 in a on-dayer and then a century in the four-day match.


Ranji Trophy Super League

Nov 3-6, 2009 – Baroda v Delhi in Vadodara
Delhi Daredevils’ younger lot of players had a fine outing against Baroda in the Ranji Trophy Super League. All-rounder Rajat Bhatia (78) put on 141 with Shikhar Dhawan (224), while Yogesh Nagar scored a useful 55 and Pradeep Sangwan made 33 in 27 balls as Delhi piled on 591.
When Baroda went in to bat, Sangwan, Bhatia and Nagar took one wicket each, as Baroda were all out for 326 and made to follow on. In the second essay, Baroda were 233 for four as the match was drawn. Sangwan took two for 42 in 16 overs, while Bhatia and Nagar went wicketless.

Nov 3-6, 2009 – Railways v Tamil Nadu in Delhi
Delhi Daredevils vice-captain Dinesh Karthik scored 13 and new recruit R Jesuraj made eight, as Tamil Nadu scored 337 in reply to Railways’ 327. When Railways batted, Karthik took two catches and Jesuraj bowled 22 overs for 51 runs, but with no wickets. In the Railways’ second innings, Jesuraj bowled four overs for no 12 runs and no wickets as the match was drawn.

Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 – Sept-Oct 2009

Delhi won four of their five matches to top the pool. Their only loss was to Punjab, who however lost two matches and ended fourth in the pool of six teams. Delhi have qualified for the quarter-finals and will play their next match on March 14, 2010.

Batting
Rajat Bhatia, starred for Delhi with 150 runs in five matches at an average of 75 as he was unbeaten in three of his innings. Yogesh Nagar and Pradeep Sangwan got to bat just once in the five matches and scored two and no runs.


Bowling
Pradeep Sangwan took nine wickets for 142 in five games at an average of 15.77. His best was three for 22. Off-spinner Yogesh Nagar took seven wickets for just 72 runs in five matches and 13 overs for Delhi’s best average of 10.28. His best was three for 15. Rajat Bhatia five wickets for 110 runs in 14 overs in five matches for an average of 22 with three for 33 as his best.
On the field, Bhatia took four catches, Sangwan three and Nagar two.

Sheffield Shield  Australia – 4-day matches

Oct 30-Nov 2, 2009 - Victoria v South Australia
Daredevils stood out for Victoria in a drawn game in Adelaide in the Sheffield Shield match. Paceman Dirk Nannes took three wickets for 65 runs in 17 overs and all-rounder Andrew McDonald took two for 42 in 18 overs. Then while batting McDonald scored 114 runs off 183 balls in 221 minutes with 13 fours in Victoria’s only innings. In South Australia’s second innings Nannes took one for 57 in 14 overs and McDonald was wicketless in 18 overs in which he gave away 50 runs.
 
Ford Ranger – 50-over one-dayers

Nov 4, 2009 -  Victoria v South Australia – Adelaide
AB McDonald continued his good run with a 58-run knock 71 balls with six fours and one six, as Victoria (248 for 5) beat South Australia 247 for 9) five wickets in Ford Ranger Cup one-dayers.

Nov 1, 2009 - New South Wales v Western Australia at Sydney
David Warner scored just one for New South Wales, but his team beat Western Australia by seven wickets in Ford Ranger Cup one-dayers.

South Africa – MTN Series – 40-over matches

Nov 1, 2009 - Titans v Eagles - Centurion
AB De Villiers continued his good form on return with an innings of 65 in 67 balls with thre fours and two sixes, as Titans (254 for 8) beat Eagles (240 for 7) by 14 runs in MTN Series played as 40-over matches. De Villiers also took one catch.
