Chatri Bazar score two wins in Coca Cola Delhi Daredevils Cricket Dhamaka
Gwalior, Sept 5: The Coca-Cola Delhi Daredevils Cricket Dhamaka was off to a resounding start with more than 1,500 spectators crowding around the centrally located Chatri Bazar Stadium in Gwalior.
Action began on the dot at 6 pm, despite the ground being rendered soggy by the past weeks heavy rain. The Gwalior Division Cricket Association (GDCA) staff worked overnight to dry the ground and ensure full play. There were five matches scheduled for the day under floodlights.
Fittingly, the home team, Chatri Bazar team won both its matches with their star player Cheema emerging the top scorer in both wins. They lead Group A with four points. Lashkar follow them with two points from two games. Thatipur and Hazira were yet to open their account.
In group B, Taraganj and Golay Ka Mandir have two points each with one win from one match each.
It was Chatri Bazar, who set the tone with a good win in the first game and they added a second win by winning the fifth and final game of the day.
The second win in particular was exciting with Cheema top-scoring, but once he retired after going past 30, there were some tense moments for the home team. But they hung and won on the last ball.
Eight teams have been divided into two groups, with the top two teams going into the semi-finals. The semi-finals and final will be played on Monday, September 7 with Jyotiraditya Scinda, MP and President of MPCA giving away the prizes.
