NEW DELHI, July 1: In a thrilling final that ended in a nerve tingling penalty shootout, Du Force beat Red Bull 7 to lift the inaugural Delhi Daredevils Soccer Mania 2009 at the Feroz Shah Kotla grounds in the capital here today.
The finals of the five-day long 32 team contest went into a penalty shoot-out after the two teams finished tied, post two goalless sessions. Du Force triumphed by a 2-0 margin in the shoot-out.
The four team ladies tournament resulted in a clash between Eves Soccer Club and Centerline FC. In a situation similar to the men’s finals the two teams went into a penalty shoot-out where Eves Soccer Club emerged victors by a margin of 3-2. Eves as the winners were richer by Rs 10,000. Centerline got to take home Rs5,000.
